Benefits of Massage

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:

  • Decreased anxiety
  • Enhanced sleep quality
  • Greater energy
  • Improved concentration
  • Increased circulation
  • Reduced fatigue

Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues.

  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
  • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
  • Ease medication dependence.
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
  • Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
  • Increase joint flexibility.
  • Lessen depression and anxiety.
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
  • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
  • Reduce spasms and cramping.
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
  • Relieve migraine pain.

The Practitioners

Pennsylvania Licensed Therapists

Danae Swihart portrait
Danae Swihart

Danae earned her degree in Massage Therapy from the Pennsylvania Institute of Massage Therapy. While having trained in a variety of modalities over the many years of providing massage therapy, she gravitated back to practicing the customized therapeutic massage that best meets her clients’ needs.

"I became a Massage Therapist because I love helping others learn how to take care of their own body using preventive care. Massage techniques came naturally to me. I also love to travel and chose to pursue a profession that has application throughout the world."

Jenny Lesher portrait
Jenny Lesher

After raising her son and working in a variety of industries, Jenny wanted to pursue her passion for helping people. Returning to school to study for her BSN seemed an obvious goal until one day, while getting her regular massage… “I was literally laying on the massage table and thought, why not do this? I can clearly help people in a way that I genuinely believe in – providing the preventative and holistic options that have helped me.”

Three weeks later Jenny was enrolled in the European Medical School of Massage, earning a degree in Medical Massage and related disciplines.

Bernie Gangaware portrait
Bernie Gangaware

Bernie is credentialed in Craniosacral Therapy (CST), a gentle, noninvasive, hands-on treatment that can provide relief from pain - including headaches and neck pain. A practioner since 2018, Bernie transitioned to full-time practice as a licensed Massage Therapist in 2020 after a 37-year career as a dental assistant.

"For a decade, I struggled with the physical and emotional effects of several childhood injuries. It wasn't until a friend of mine recommended Craniosacral Therapy (CST) in the 1990s that I finally found relief. Inspired by my own healing I decided to help others experience the same."

Kila Burkholder portrait
Kila Burkholder

Kila is a talented Massage Therapist with knowledge of therapeutic techniques and passion for wellness. Kila provides personalized treatments that leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Working as a CNA, Kila discovered her true passion for massage therapy. She relocated from Montana to Pennsylvania to pursue a degree in massage therapy and bodywork at the Academy of Massage Therapy and Bodywork. As a student, clients often commented that her massage was the best they'd ever received. While many therapists excel at their skill, Kila is one of the rare few with a natural talent.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:

  • 24 hour advance notice is required when canceling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to give us 24 hours advance notice you will be charged the full amount of your appointment. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
  • No-shows. Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment.
  • Late Arrivals If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, your therapist will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time.
